Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) Selects N'compass to Provide Services that will Optimize Data Center Efficiency

April 1, 2011, Minneapolis, MN - ComEd, a unit of the Chicago-based Exelon Corporation, one of the nation's largest electric utility companies, has selected Minneapolis-based technology consulting firm N'compass Solutions Inc. (N'compass) to provide services, through energy efficiency incentives, to business customers throughout the greater Chicago area that will optimize the efficiencies of their data centers.

ComEd and N'compass will offer ComEd business customers N'compass' exclusive Data Center Efficiency Program, a unique process designed to drive down overall energy consumption within both facility and IT components and help optimize data center operating performance.  N'compass analyzes data center equipment, layout, temperature, power levels, airflow, trends, and more, and delivers an all-inclusive report that identifies sources of inefficiency, recommended improvements, and the costs/benefits for those improvements. Armed with this valuable and insightful analysis, businesses can make strategic decisions about how to improve the operating efficiency of their data centers, including how to lower energy costs.

In 2007, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported that data centers used 1.5 percent of all the power consumed in the United States (61 billion kilowatt-hours) at a cost of $4.5 billion in 2006.
